What is a Mentor?
A "mentor" is a caring adult who commits to befriend, mentor, encourage, and open doors for one kid who wants and needs someone to walk with them through adolescence. After we match you with a mentee, the commitment is to meet with that kid at one of our weekly mentoring gatherings for at least one year. However, be prepared for a friendship that might last a lifetime!
MENTOR REQUIREMENTS
- Walking in a relationshipwith Jesus Christ.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Safe driving record (no DUI’s, suspended license, etc.)
- References from a community leader or pastor
- Complete a background check
- Must own or have access to a vehicle
- Complete our 4-hour mentor training course
- Mentoring interview with staff member
DEON'S STORY
Josh and Deon met 5 years ago at Frederick Douglass H.S. As their friendship has grown Deon has come to know Jesus in a deep way. Deon successfully graduated from high school last year, worked hard to get his drivers license this year, and recently landed a great job at Flagger Force.
